On a site promoting zionism and aliyah, I was surprised to see someone calling a fellow Jew a "SNAKE". Whether you disagree with Peres or not, he has devoted his life to public service of Medinat Yisrael, and he is our brother.
I understand your comment, however, the snake was still created by G-d and as such, has its purpose in this creation. However; I would not have a snake as a pet, Shimon Peres is a fellow Jew, and I love and respect him for that, but he SHOULD NOT BE IN POLITICS, because I think he is hurting his brothers more then helping them.
Shulamit- One of "our" excuses is that we don't have enough political clout, influence and strength in the Knesset (yet)... Calling Shmion Peres a "snake" may make you feel better, but it doesn't really help "us" over "here", who are stuck with Peres as "our" new President.
Give Shulamit a break - she is right - it is a sad day when the person who got us into all the pain and suffering we face is elected president. This is an aweful thing and I say let her vent!
First Mr. NG, Making aliyah does not give you an excuse to promote a fake peace that caused so much pain and suffering that no words can express it.
Did you lose someone due to the Oslo accords? Do you think telling that mother... well at least the person responsible for your loss made aliyah will HELP????

Rav Judah,
I understand your comment, that calling someone a name doesn't accomplish much, but the "you" over there, should notice who "you" just allowed to be elected president, and if "you" wanted to, "you" could have prevented it. I am not in the position to prevent the election of officials in Israel yet... but "you" are...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Sedmoy, I will take your comment as a compliment assuming you are referring to the snake in female :-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Lash :-)
I am working on it, I will not use all my excuses, but just say that its being worked on, but I will accept prayers!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Last but NOT least.... Yishia!!!
Thanks for your support, but just as I am allowed to vent, so are these people, and I accept it, and hope that maybe one vent might actually initiate an action :-)
Perez should stay away from politics & the Israeli goverment. He caused a lot of harm to Israel,from The Oslo agreement till what is happening today in Gaza with the Hamas taking over with Israeli weapons.. If this happened in any other normal country this man would of been under investigation a while ago
I'm complaining to the ASPCA -- your comparison is insulting to snakes -- BTW, why did Shas vote for Peres ?
a) They believe only studying Torah affects Israel, so it doesn't matter how much money or arms is sent to the terrorists. (hence, getting funds for the yeshivot is the most important thing).
b) counter-argument: But they still would be deriving benefit from violations of Jewish law (i.e. expelling Jews from their homes, etc.)
Shulamit, I wasn't implying that Oslo is acceptable. It's not, and I still consider it treason. But we are only able to get angry at Peres for being a traitor because he left his family behind in Poland and came here (when it was WAY more difficult to do so). That is to say, he's only a traitor to us Israelis, not to Jews in other countries, because he's part of our polity, not of yours.
thanks for your comment, but I'm going to have to disagree with you. What he has done doesn't only effect the people in Israel but all Jews in the world. To say that someone that left their family in Poland and made aliyah can only have the power to effect people living in Israel is a flawed sense of reality. Each person has the ability to effect anyone, they are not confined to their geographical continent. Although I don't live in Israel what he has done has had a personal effect on me, and I have every right to be upset and call him a snake.
Peres had Rabin murdered and knows way more than he'll ever say about the stolen Yemenite children.
Word on the street is he had Ofra Haza infected with AIDS to punish her for trying to expose it.
Only a snake can slither behind the scenes and strike like a viper
... this fits Peres. Can't think of a better word.
